School Recognition Week

School Recognition Week
Posted on 04/22/2020
This is the image for the news article titled School Recognition WeekTwenty-five schools representing 12 districts in Southeast Washington are being recognized for closing gaps, showing growth, and demonstrating achievement, according to new data released by the state. This recognition comes from the State Board of Education (SBE), the Educational Opportunity Gap Oversight and Accountability Committee (EOGOAC), and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI). A virtual celebration will be held through social media to recognize these schools from across the state, just in time for the legislatively acknowledged “Washington School Recognition Week” (April 27 - May 1, 2020).

Across Washington State, 391 schools are receiving recognition from the SBE, EOGOAC, and OSPI. The state has re-imagined the recognition system, which replaces the previous “Washington Achievement Awards.”  Across the 23 school districts in Educational Service District 123's region, 12 districts received recognition (see full list of schools and their designated awards below).

“Right now, the whole world is understanding the significance of our public schools,” said Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdal. “Public education provides each student with an opportunity for success; it’s the foundation of our democracy and our society. Next week, we are honoring our educators who are committed to continually improving outcomes for their students. Thank you all for your amazing work.”
