School Districts

Referrals

Before considering a change of placement to Candy Mountain Academy, which is a more restrictive placement option available to a district, the IEP (Individualized Education Program) team must have evidence that interventions and supports have been in place over sufficient time to accurately determine if the IEP can be implemented at the neighborhood/attending school. The IEP team must ensure supports are in place for the student and family across environments and that parents and all service providers understand the level of concern. Supports should be in place consistently before considering a more restrictive environment outside of the neighborhood school. The Candy Mountain Academy program is designed to support a small number of students with significant social/emotional needs from cooperating districts.

The sending IEP team, upon discussion of Candy Mountain Academy being the Least Restrictive Environment for the student, will complete an online referral.
