Candy Mountain Academy is here to serve children and youth with emotional and behavior challenges that prevent them from participating successfully within their neighborhood school districts. Candy Mountain Academy is a trauma-informed, relationship based educational program that is here to serve students effectively and serve as a model in the region.

What Do We Do?

First and foremost, Candy Mountain Academy is an academic program. The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015 “requires that all students in America be taught to high academic standards that will prepare them to succeed in college and careers.” We take that mandate seriously and believe that all of our students can achieve high academic standards. We measure this through a detailed standards-based grading system that includes explicit rating scales for our priority standards. This allows us to clearly communicate with students, families, and school districts what our students are able to do.
